The Weaver Workshop and Support Association is an independent, not-for-profit organization formed to further education and to serve its members. The Association collects dues from its members and remits certain dues to the Ohio Education Association.
Our OEA and NEOEA dues have increased, so your deduction will increase per pay in order to cover the costs of those dues. OEA and NEOEA dues increases are beyond the control of your local leadership and generally do increase on a yearly basis.
Current local dues:
Full-time employees: $85.00/year
Part-time employees: $42.50/year
Members have their dues deducted each pay period, prorated over the course of a year.
Fair Share Fee Payers dues are deducted over the course of 13 pay periods starting in March, which means their dues payments are doubled for 6 months, and then nothing is deducted for 6 months.
NEA, OEA & NEOEA Dues are the same for both Members and Fair Share Fee Payers; the only difference is in how/when they are deducted from your paychecks.
Our previous Treasurer, Donna Dunn, was finally indicted on felony theft charges and a federal warrant has been issued for her from Stark County. The warrant has been served, a prosecutor has been assigned the case and the case is awaiting trial in Stark County's Common Pleas Criminal Court. As further developments happen, I will update this notice.
update 12-5-09: President Carolyn Holladay was subpeoned to testify and she did so on 12-3-09. No further information is available at this time.
We have been reimbursed the allegedly stolen money by the insurance company that bonds the Treasurers. (The money is considered "alledgedly stolen" until there is a guilty verdict). The reimbursement was applied to dues owed to OEA.
Changes have been made to comply with our bylaws to hopefully ensure that this doesn't ever happen again. Questions regarding this can be directed to Carolyn Holladay via the email address link located on the bottom of each page.
update 3-10-10: former treasurer, Donna Dunn, pleaded guilty to felony theft and has been sentenced. She received jail time, and is to pay back the money that was stolen to the insurance company that bonds our treasurers.
